I have been creating groups, events and gatherings since 2019. That year, I founded Merced’s first transgender and non-binary support group, and ran it on a volunteer basis for 3 years. It eventually took the name Genderpeers. The group still meets, now under the banner of Central Valley Pride.
Some examples of the events I have created and convened are:
- Ice cream social for LGBTQ+ youth
- Arcade trip for LGBTQ+ youth
- Easy day hike in Yosemite
- Art making events attended by 50+ people
- Legal name and gender change events
- Clothing drive, swap for transgender group members, and donation of the remainder to local homeless shelter
- “Heart Circles,” a tool for deep sharing among group participants
- Peer-led support groups for transgender and non-binary people, and for LGBTQ+ youth
- Group art exhibitions
I love finding and facilitating connections between people. I am a born organizer and have created many organizations; recruiting board members and volunteers united behind common goals. But I particularly enjoy the small group dynamic; especially, facilitating Heart Circles for groups of under 20. This tool for deep sharing can be so transformative and uniting for a small group.
I am available to travel to your event to facilitate groups and seminars focused on the LGBTQ+ experience.
