Sex Without Roles: Transcending Gender

I wrote Sex Without Roles in 2017, barely a year into my medical transition. Of course, I had been wrestling with all the choices and consequences of transitioning my gender long before I made the decision to actually do it. So, questions about how my sex life would potentially be affected had definitely been on my mind for a long while before writing this ‘zine.

I also had a partner at the time. How my gender identity affected the way I wanted to have sex, and how potential surgeries might affect that were, to put it mildly, tough questions. We were able to talk about all these questions in honest detail, and I am forever grateful for that. This book chronicles that time in my life, and all those questions.

Sex Without Roles is definitely written from the viewpoint of a binary transgender man (myself). But I also think that it has a wider appeal, for anyone wishing to explore sex from angles other than the traditional, heteronormative viewpoint. I’m honored that I receive regular feedback from people who find the booklet helpful and informative on their own journeys.

You can buy Sex Without Roles from me if you catch me at a ‘zine fest, at fine sex shops and wide-minded booksellers across the US, or directly from Microcosm Publishing.
