The Case for Slow Sport

It took a little while, but this book that I actually created a few years ago is ready for you to view and order 🙂 It is available print-on-demand at Blurb.com

This book is my mini manifesto against rushing through, or competing (with yourself or others) in outdoor spaces. Why not relax and enjoy them, instead? My hope is that it provides encouragement and empowerment for those of use who have traditionally been discouraged from adventure and adventure sports: small people, differently-abled people, less-fit people, and feminine people.

Speaking for myself, being raised feminine, I remember being actively discouraged from adventure sports, and sports in general, as I was growing up, and well into my twenties. I was told that it’s too dangerous, too strenuous, that I would never accomplish my objectives, that I would surely get lost, hurt, overwhelmed, attacked, etc.

For a long time, I wanted to write an antidote to that. It is a bit of a confessional, a bit of an exorcism, like most of my books, I suppose.

That said, the book is mostly pictures – my most favorite nature shots from beautiful places across the US and Australia. Which I have also always wanted to share more of with all of you.

Thanks for looking.
